🚨 SCAM WARNING: Fake Tender from zikhona.sodika@dsdgovtenders.online
⚠️ This is a fraudulent tender scam impersonating the Department of Social Development (DSD).
If you received an email like the one above requesting a quotation for an RFQ and inviting you to outsource a product, do NOT engage. It follows the typical pattern of fake government procurement scams circulating in South Africa.
🧠 Why This Is a Scam
| Email domain: @dsdgovtenders.online | This is not a legitimate government domain. Real DSD emails end in @dsd.gov.za |
| “You don’t need to be in the scope/expertise of the product” | Real government departments never allow unqualified companies to quote or win tenders. This is a manipulation tactic. |
| Unrealistic turnaround: 3 working days | Short timelines are used to pressure victims into rushing without verification. |
| “Find a supplier and mark it up” | This is how the scam works — you’re encouraged to work with a fake supplier, who will disappear with your payment. |
| Fake contact number: +27 (012) 516 0898 | This number is not listed on any official DSD communications. |
🕵️ How the Scam Typically Works
-
You get an email asking for a quote on a product (often obscure).
-
You’re told you don’t need to specialize — just outsource it.
-
They recommend a “supplier” or you find one (who’s part of the scam).
-
You get awarded the tender — but you must pay upfront to the supplier.
-
Once payment is made, the supplier disappears. You lose the money.
